26 April 2007
The experience of Morocco in using GRB to achieve gender equality was presented at a workshop on the theme “Development Effectiveness in practice: applying the Paris Declaration to advancing Gender Equality, Environmental Sustainability and Human Rights”. The meeting convened in Dublin by Irish Aid, OECD and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark from 26-27 April 2007 is one of the key events on the FFD agenda.
The presentation by the representative of the Moroccan Ministry of Finance was very well received and has led key partners including DAC, IFAD and the governments of Norway and Sweden have express a strong interest in supporting GRB work. Morocco initiated GRB work in 2004. As a result of this work, the staff of Ministry of Finance and Sectoral Ministries started producing in 2006 a gender report published as an annex to the Economic and Financial Report (ERF). In 2007, the call circular in Morocco made a clear reference to gender for the first time in 2007.
